As a fitness enthusiast and professional in the fitness sector, I believe that there are some crucial factors that you need to keep an eye on while working out. Some of those factors include nutrition and cardio to name but a few. This article will give insight into how to stick to your workout routine as well as how to make sure that you do not overdo it. Let's get started!
1) Don’t Skip The Resting Period
I think this is probably one of the most overlooked aspects of fitness but I feel that it is very important to take time to rest during workouts. Whether you work out for three weeks straight or just over a week, it is so important to take some time off to refuel. This can be done by drinking tea or other refreshing drinks or even simply sitting down and doing nothing, all things being equal. You will notice a difference in the way you feel after having some proper rest and recharge.
2) Prioritize What Is Important
When you begin any new exercise program you are bound to start with small goals. When you start with these smaller goals then you start to realize when it comes to exercising consistently, you start feeling like crap at times. Once we feel that little bit better than before, it is easy to become addicted to our fitness routine and begin neglecting what matters. It starts to become about making sure that you are getting enough sleep and eating enough food. If this were not the case, why would you start anything else?
This is why prioritizing what is important during the early days can help you stick to your workout plan. Focus on what is important to you at a particular time. Then try to focus on improving each time that you go through that set of workouts. Even if for example you can complete the entire workout then the only thing that matters is how much you accomplish. Do whatever you are capable of doing. Maybe even increase the number of exercises you do to get better results.
3) Get Enough Sleep
You may find yourself struggling to maintain the intensity of your workout as well as the motivation to complete it. Recollect what your identity is, don't allow anybody to tell you in any case. So next time that you find yourself in a gym and find yourself unable to achieve the same level of performance, remember how good you were mentally last night. Just relax because you deserve it, it doesn't have anything to do with how well you feel physically at the minute.
4) Train Hard And For A While Too Long
I will say this one again: don't let any training sessions go to waste. Most people train hard and for too long and when it comes to their body, they end up gaining mass and losing strength and/or speed, something you will just hate, especially in the gym. Make sure that you make sure that the set of exercises is not more than 30 minutes (unless the class has a “cool down” at which point you will have less time for it).
This might sound ridiculous but this rule works wonders when it comes to building muscle. Yes, the more complicated the exercise the stronger the muscles but remember that they are still broken tissue. That's why it is so easy to injure your muscles in the gym but for long. In an hour-long session, you should be looking forward to completing every single exercise. Try to stay away from extra weight exercises like pushups, deadlifts, etc., and try to avoid doing any movement that is going to require an excessive force of gravity to pull you back (or vice versa).
Also, make sure that you do not lift heavy weights at too frequent intervals during the routine. Overdoing this will only create problems in the future. No heavy lifting means no endurance and the ability to perform it later at another point in time. Only focus on performing the exercises that you know best.
5) Drink Plenty Of Water
I am personally a strong believer that water is extremely important to maintaining good health. Therefore, it is super easy to keep track of how much water you drink each time. Also remember that water helps replenish electrolytes, which are necessary for all the fluids that are used. These water levels also determine how active a person is. So try to make sure that you drink plenty of water. Just keep reminding yourself of this. Drinking lots of water regularly is really about keeping yourself hydrated. If you are thirsty, you are not active. So keep yourself fully hydrated.
6) Keep An Eye Out For Downtime
If you want to truly stick to your routine then you need to consider how much downtime you need. Sometimes we need time to relax and unwind. However, if you are someone who likes to put pressure on yourself, then take 5-10 minutes to take care of yourself because you are tired and need some time to get healthy. Not everyone needs that much time, just remember that life happens and you will have times throughout the week when you won't be able to complete everything as fast as in your previous sessions. Instead of pushing yourself, try doing things easier. Remember that you have so much potential and don't stop when the job is done physically.
With each workout being harder from workout to workout, it is good to give yourself enough time between workouts to allow your brain to recover and reset from the stress. Many books can help you learn how to do this and you will end up finding yourself practicing the exercises regularly, which means that you will finish even more on your workout list. Good luck. Stay motivated and never forget why you started with a goal as well!
