How much Protein do You Need?

There is a misconception that you need to eat more protein than your daily allowance to ensure good health and not be at risk of some kind of serious disease, or even death. This is because the body cannot make enough healthy proteins to maintain all our body’s functions, such as muscle growth, digestion, and the creation of new cells. The truth is that your body has a very healthy amount of protein and you should be able to meet its needs when eating. Most people can easily get the extra pounds they desire without having to cut one of their main proteins out or reduce their overall intake of other vitamins and minerals. If, however, a person chooses not to eat certain foods or otherwise makes changes to their diet, then they are at risk of not getting enough protein. A lack of protein affects everyone differently, so taking a look at what constitutes a complete protein for each gender would be difficult. Since most people have no problems with their hair and skin, this doesn’t a...

How to Develop a New Healthy Habit

It is hard for us to stay healthy and on top of  our game when we are occupied with work. And no one likes to get off the treadmill, except when it’s time to walk. We all know what this feeling feels like and how a walk can make you feel energized, recharged, and productive. This becomes a habit, but an unhealthy one, we need a way to reset our relationship with rest. So here are some tips and tricks on how to build a healthier relationship with the rest of your life. 1. Set up a schedule The first thing you should do is to make a plan. Your daily routine will have to change if you want to become more consistent. How to Exercise in the Heat

You've probably heard it said that the sun is hot and if you aren't careful you could die a slow death. I find this extremely true because in the heat of summer or at any other time of year when temperatures are about to drop quickly. I have found this in several years at least. I don't see my family members fall to their deaths from dehydration when we go places. Most people also see a slight increase in water resistance so when we do get out of the car and get into someplace warm (not like swimming pools) where our body will need to work harder to hold onto us. This is why I'm going to start by saying this... how does your body work when you exercise in the heat? Here are the ways. Your muscles are temperature sensitive. Temperature is what allows muscle tissues to contract. As you get warmer, some parts of your muscle become heavier and have more fibers which allow them to perform better. They cannot work as well when they have less thermal energy, so that is why...

How to Stay Healthy This Summer

If you are considering starting the summer with a new diet plan, know that it is never too late to make adjustments when you become fit and healthy again. What's important to know is that you have plenty of time to learn how to stay healthy this summer! I will share three ways you can increase your chances of maintaining your lifestyle, as well as two other methods that I believe will help to keep you healthier throughout your entire summer season. 1. Lose Weight Slowly One important factor in shedding those unwanted pounds is to work at reducing those extra calories. A good way to do this is by eating smaller meals throughout your day. Eating small amounts of food will help to keep you from overeating during your day, and if you eat the same size every day, you won't get enough food. In addition, try to avoid all sugar and maintain a balanced diet. You'll need about half your body fat for every 100 calories you take in. When you're hungry or feeling tired, give yours...

5 Quick Tips Regarding Weight Loss

There is no doubt that weight loss and weight gain are two of the most difficult things to deal with both in our lives and in life in general. When we talk about body image, it all comes down to what society is trying to sell us – as women, ladies, overweight, fat, slim, thin, or anything in between. If any one of those is a part of your new lifestyle, you will need to adjust accordingly. You might not like the size/weight that you see on TV and Instagram (even though people love to be seen like them), but that won’t help in the long run anyway. It’s just simply not worth losing more than what you have. However, some tips to get you through this situation can be quite simple when it comes to the overall health and safety of yourself. The main ones are: 1) Drink water throughout the day Drink up to 4 liters per day. This will help flush out toxins and any other residue from the foods you eat and drink every day. 2) Don’t overeat while eating Be sure to finish the food you have whe...

Food And Nutrition Education for Healthy Diets

If you are trying to get healthier, do your best to eat healthy and nutritious foods all the time. It may take some practice, but once you start making that shift, you will find that once your body has adapted to eating more whole foods and healthy fats, it will become second nature. When it comes to health, it is always good to know that what someone eats can impact their overall wellness, whether they eat out, or the healthy snacks and drinks they purchase. So, when it comes to eating healthy, here are some tips for healthy eating habits. 1. Plan Ahead A common misconception is that planning out meals is mandatory, but it shouldn’t be for everyone. Planning will help determine which foods you will be able to afford to buy from stores, so this gives you a sense of comfort. This is particularly helpful if you have high-calorie and calorie-dense foods you usually enjoy as part of your daily routine. Also, by scheduling meals in advance, you won’t feel stressed when you run into pr...

6 Huge Benefits of Exercise

Did you know that a half-hour of exercise a day can help relieve pain, and improve muscle strength? It’s true! Research shows that even 30 minutes a day is good for overall health and wellbeing. But what about the time spent in our “sitting posture”? With the ongoing rise in chronic illness, obesity, and other medical conditions — like high blood pressure — it’s important to get plenty of movement into your daily life. And, as research has shown, physical activity can reduce stress levels, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses such as diabetes. There are many reasons why so many people need more exercise! Here are some of them for you to consider: 1) Strengthening muscles When muscles become tight or sore after an injury, this disrupts everyday activities, leading to strain and pain. This in turn causes you to experience an increase in risk for falls or slips and can compromise your ability to function from time to time. Getting regular exercise also increases flexibility. W...

5 Way to Curb Holiday Weight Gain

When people tell you they want to lose weight, it probably is because they want to go on a diet and/or simply feel healthier. However, if this isn’t the primary reason that someone wants to shed weight, there are plenty of reasons. Even when your goal is to lose your body fat percentage, or just get fatter, there are multiple ways you can cut back on calories too. 1. Start Eating Smaller Meals It has generally been said that addressing the issue beforehand is better than addressing any aftermath later. While this may be true in some cases, it doesn’t hold up over others. This is particularly true for those who already have a chronic diet like someone with type 2 diabetes, heart disease, osteoarthritis, etc. They tend to eat more than most of us do and eat less or not at all when we see a doctor for our first checkup. There is no need to go as big as possible, but instead, the next time you see a health professional do a physical, ask them how many calories they’d like and then f...

Should You Pause Your Weight-Loss Efforts Over the Holiday

It’s no secret that weight loss causes stress. With a holiday season and family gatherings, it is likely that you will put off your efforts. But should you do this over the holidays? I am not going to say “no" or “yes." However, sometimes just putting off those long runs can be beneficial. Just as our body knows how to control its fat cells, so too does an emotional diet become hard to follow if we focus on making ourselves look better. And because of this, it may seem best to hold off from certain activities for the holidays until you feel more comfortable. Here are some facts about this: You don’t need to lose those pounds all at once When we reduce our bodies' appetite and burn out, the calories slow down. Most people start losing weight by following a new pattern for most of their summer. This usually starts with hiking, swimming, getting in shape, working out, or trying new recipes. Unfortunately, when we work up those calorie counts, they quickly balloon back agai...
